Question:  Why would I buy a print instead of an original?
Answer:  There is the obvious reason, price. Prints are much cheaper than originals. Another reason is size. You can order a size that fits your needs the best. Originals only come in one size.

Question:  What is this art all about?
Answer:  The art on this website is simple yet has depth. Does not cover the wood, yet is complete. Works with nature with wood grain and natural samples, yet is methodically human. If you want to see real, take a photo. If you want a political message commission a piece from me, since these works are rebellous. Don't have a museum define your art and tell you what is good. Let your art define you.

Question:  Why are some of the images on Defineart blurry or color seems a little off?
Answer:  Since these are online we do not want to give or provide the opportunity to use them illegally. These are all copywrited images by the artists. The images you see are very close if not exact in all cases to how the originals and the prints will look, but not always. you as the buyer, can expect to get an even better quality image for your print and your original.

Question:  Why would I want to buy an original instead of a print?
Answer:  APPRECIATING INVESTMENT. Paintings are one of those items that increase in value over time. An original is just what the name says. It is an original. There will never be another painting like it. There are certain characteristics that originals will have that prints will not. Most originals gain 10% -30% in value each year. Not to mention, the more prints that are made of a painting, the more the original increases in value. Also most painters increase their price to purchase an original every year. So buying an original, is an investment, and you may never be able to get an original at that price ever again. Would you think a print of the Mona Lisa is worth having more than the real thing? Many times the price difference is only a few hundered dollars more, and you earn that back in appreciation in a couple of years.

Question:  What is Defineart?
Answer:  Defineart is a brain child of acclaimed artist Nathan Paul Gibbs. We are always asking what art is about, why did the artist paint that picture? Well Nathan Paul attempts to bring the viewer into his mind. He wants you to join him on a journey through the mind and the soul.

Question:  Are the originals or prints framed?
Answer:  Prints are not framed. Most originals are framed with simple 1" x 3" white wood or pine. I then use a wood stain to give them a darker tone. I try to make the frames look rustic and distressed. That is just my style. When you recieve the original and do not like the frame, on canvas at least, you can remove it by hitting the inside edge with a hammer. On wood panel many times the frame is incorporated into the piece so you will not be able to remove it. HOWEVER, on all of my frames you can use these as a base for a more elaborate frame that you can buy at any frame shop.

Question:  What does stretched/not stretched mean?
Answer:  When ordering a canvas Giclee print you have the option to have the canvas stretched on stretcher bars. If print is NOT stretched when you order it you can save money on shipping and price. Also there is less chance that the Giclee gets damaged in the shipping. Most local framing shops can stretch your canvas for $10-$50 depending on who you use.

Question:  Why will it take up to two weeks for my prints?
Answer:  Since the prints are all created individually for the buyer, we make them as they are ordered. The Giclee process involves a printing and drying of about 24 hours. Then the print is coated with a UV resistant coating that helps protect it from long term sun damage so you have no restrictions on where you hang it. It needs another 36 hours to dry. Once that process is done the artist will sign and number the print. Then if the print is ordered stretched on bars, that is another day. If it is not stretched, that greatly reduces our time to get it prepared and to you. The shipping department will then prepare the print for shipping.
